The Toronto Chamber Choir is thrilled to announce that after an extensive international search, Lucas Harris has been selected as the new full-time artistic director, starting with the 2014/15 season. Harris, who has recently earned a master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Toronto, first studied the lute and early music on a scholarship at the Civica scuola di musica di Milano (Milan) and at the Hochschule für Künste (Bremen). Based since 2004 in Toronto, he is the regular lutenist with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and a frequent collaborator with many other early music ensembles throughout North America.

We also wish our Music Director, Mark Vuorinen, all the best, in his appointment as a faculty member at Conrad Grebel University College in the University of Waterloo, and thank him for his musicianship and leadership. But next season the Toronto Chamber Choir will be in very good hands. Four extraordinary musicians will each conduct one program while the search for a new music director is undertaken: Elizabeth Anderson, Brad Ratzlaff, Lucas Harris, Vicki St. Pierre.
